Housing Need Survey Report

The final completed Housing Need Survey is now available to view on the following link: Housing Need Survey

This document povides details on the wishes and needs of residents in Capel St Mary.

The Capel St Mary Parish Council understands and shares some of the concerns raised over potential future development. Following a call for land by Babergh District Council there has been an increase in interest in our village. The Parish Council took the decision to publicise all registers of interests made directly to us by developers to keep the community fully aware of future possibilities of development.

If and when these approaches lead to actual planning applications each will be assessed on their own merit, taking into account the number of dwellings, the density of the site, highways access to the development, traffic effect on the village and benefits to the village community all determined by CS11 (see link).

We will continue to keep all residents aware of information as it filters through to us.

Land North of Red Lane - Scotts Properties Additional Land

PUBLIC CONSULTATION 17TH JULY 2017 IN THE VILLAGE HALL 2PM - 7.30PM

A local development company, Scott Properties, advised they are working on proposals for land north of Red Lane, the initial indications were 150 dwellings however land identified equates to a potential 600 plus.

We have since discovered a plan to build potentially up to 600 homes on land in excess of 20 hectares plus an additional 4.77 hectares for development.

This would include a total re-design of the access and A12 sliproad including the installation of a roundabout and the closure of the sliproad joining the A12 Ipswich bound making ALL traffic pass through London Road toward the underpass. See attached plan 600 Homes

The Suffolk Preservation Society has written to Babergh in regarding these proposals. Suffolk Preservation Society
